Collaboration

Last fall my daughter, Casey, suggested that we might collaborate on a project, and since it involved quilting I readily agreed.  Also, to collaborate with my talented daughter and learn from her was exciting.  She had several ideas and sent me sketches.  After a bit of back and forth on the sizes, colors and design, we were off and running.  Her ideas were based on bringing the outdoors in by using constellations, but in a very minimalist style.  That style was a challenge for me, as I tend to over do it, just a bit, (wink)
However, we were able to agree on the designs and once completed, I felt that they turned out quite well. Click here and here to see the photos of the completed quilted blankets  They are hanging in Tanner Goods shop in Portland, OR and are for sale!

  1. Gosh these blankets are so different! As you say a minimalist style but I like them (even though I love colour and lots of it). Were the constellation designs hand stitched? I notice the straight line machine stitching of which I am a great fan, and what a super store to have display them.

  4. They are all fabulous! I can't imagine anything more fun than collaborating with your talented daughter. And look what you and she turned out! The minimalist designs are so pleasing on their own. Then add their connection to the stars, and you've got real "out of this world" winners. I'm sure they'll jump right off the walls into people's homes shortly--that is, if customers can bring themselves to pick one. I know it'd be hard for me. I'd have to buy the whole lot! P.S. The store looks really great too.

  6. I think the same as Pinkadot Quilts. I don't have children, but if I had, I would love to share my interest in art with them.
Your wallhangins are fabulous. I am interested in simplicity, so, I like the composition, the colors...

  7. Oh Mary! First of all, I love Casey's collection on Pinterest and here! She is a gifted artist. Your simple beauties in her shop look just perfect. They coordinate with the lights above! Genius! next time I am in Portland area, I will be sure to stop by. Congratulations to Casey!
I feel fortunate about Kavita being interested in art. We are not speaking the same language when it comes to it with our different styles but it sure is fun to watch her grow as an artist and see her interested in all things art.
