it started with this
it ended up like this
Don't you think that it would make a wonderful rug for my family room.
If only everyone would remove their shoes before walking on it.
I named it
"not your prim and proper log cabin with posies inspired by the ladies of Gee's Bend"
I followed no rules, no patterns and broke most of the right and correct methods of piecing, applique, quilting, and binding that I possibly could.
It was most fun I have ever had in making a quilt.
I highly recommend this method.
Fabulous! ♡

ReplyDeleteIt is spectacular! And yes, it would make a great rug. Where's the scotchguard?!!!
ReplyDeleteThe joy you had making this quilt shines thru. Thank you for the inspiration. Rules, what rules?
ReplyDelete"Art has no universal rules because each true artist melts down and reforges all past aesthetic law. To learn to write well (or quilt), one must begin with a clear understanding that for the artist, if not for the critic, aesthetic law is the enemy. For the young writer (quilter), as for the great writer (quilter) he (she) hopes to become, there can be no firm rules, no limits, no restriction. What ever works is good. He (she) must develop an eye for what--by his(her) own carefully informed standards--works. John Gardner in The Art of Fiction
What a GORGEOUS quilt! And you're right, it would make a wonderful rug. Have you ever heard of rug hooking? Not latch hooking, but rather the traditional craft of rug hooking. I can totally see this as a beautiful, one-of-a-kind hooked rug for your living room. (Although you still might not want people to walk on it! :) )
ReplyDeleteOh! It looks so fabulous!! Let's figure out how to make our quilts into rugs. This is one really great quilt!!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful vision you have, to take that initial quilt by the hand and take it down the path to wonderfulness! I love love love it! Can't wait to see your new project, too - both processes are fun, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteJust popped in and found this quilt. It is fabulous!! Did you do machine applique? Fuse? Did you already have all the flowers/ leaves made? Can you tell I like it?? :). Can't quite believe it's the same quilt.
